Rameses 100-Year Celebration

Event Marketing and Outreach

As the Marketing Vice President for the Carolina Union Activities Board, I had the opportunity to host the 100-year celebration of UNC-CH’s living mascot, Rameses, in February 2024. This event was in partnership with the Hogan family, the family of handlers for Rameses, and Carolina Athletics.

Traditionally, the marketing team acts as a supportive role to increase engagement for CUAB’s programming chairs in their weekly events. But this celebration marks the CUAB marketing team’s first large-scale programming event.

Our Role

Being the main project manager of the celebration required me to organize and market the event to the entire Carolina community effectively. I had to ensure the smooth execution of the celebration. My work included:

  • Coordinating with 5+ different university departments and actors on email
  • Scheduling 1-2 weekly update meetings
  • Purchasing merchandise – 350 stuffed rams
  • Managing event timelines and changes
  • Supervising 10+ social media engagement videos and graphics
  • Outsourcing food vendors and food trucks

A RAH-ing Time - Great Success for CUAB and Our Live Mascot

It was an honor to have led such a big project for such a momentous occasion. The Chancellor and other senior leadership staff attended the event. We had appearances from the UNC cheerleading team and mascot Rameses. We also had a performance of our Carolina fight songs from the UNC Marching Band.

The event was successful for both the CUAB Marketing team and our beloved mascot – live Rameses. CUAB’s stuffed rams were a huge HIT among the students! We ended up giving away all 350 plushies one hour and served 300 portions of food. Our live mascot, Rameses the 10th, had the opportunity to share the joy for his existence by taking pictures with the 500+ community attendees at Carolina.

As the main student leader for the celebration, I am beyond thankful for the Hogan family, Professor Livis Freeman and CUAB for giving me this opportunity to give back to my home away from home!

My Role : Vice President of Marketing

As the Marketing Vice President of CUAB, my role is primarily focused on expanding the organization’s physical and digital marketing mix.

I manage the organization’s outreach plans by coordinating with different brands on potential partnership opportunities. I coordinate and lead weekly meetings with my team to develop marketing strategies for 15+ programs every week. Besides crafting event marketing plans, I am also the main videographer, producer, and editor of all our long-form and short-form video content.

Some of my past work include leading a successful rebranding, increasing our social media following to 50%, and carrying out a full marketing campaign for CUAB’s first music festival.
